Nitero
Founded in 2011, Nitero is a fabless semiconductor company developing 60 GHz CMOS solutions. Headquartered in Austin, Texas, the company engineers a 60 GHz Wi-Fi solution designed for mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets. Nitero’s technology builds on CMOS mm-wave research conducted by NICTA and the University of Melbourne from 2004 until Nitero’s spinout from NICTA in 2011.
In July 2014, Nitero announced its 60G® family of solutions based on the IEEE 802.11ad™ standard. The 60G family’s first product is the NT4600, an IEEE 802.11ad module for mobile applications. The NT4600 is designed in Samsung’s 28 nm RF process based on 28 nm HKMG LPP technology.
Nitero is an active member of the Wi-Fi Alliance, which absorbed the Wireless Gigabit Alliance in 2013. Nitero chairs the Wi-Fi Alliance’s 60 GHz Marketing Task Group.
Nitero’s investors include venture capitalists with semiconductor experience—Austin Ventures, Southern Cross Venture Partners and Trailblazer Capital.
