Nifemi Oguntoye
Nifemi Oguntoye is a Nigerian broadcast journalist, news anchor and TV presenter. He is Deputy Head of Presentation at TVC Communications and a Lead News anchor at TVC News.
Career
Nifemi began his broadcasting career at Core TV, working in news presentation, reporting and production.
He later joined TVC Communications, where he became Deputy Head of Presentation and a lead news anchor at TVC News.
He covered the 2023 Nigerian general elections, the inauguration of President Bola Tinubu and activities surrounding the 10th National Assembly.
In 2026, Nifemi interviewed Nigerian Bar Association president Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, and former Lagos State Governor and former Minister of Works and Housing Babatunde Fashola.
Controversy
In 2025, Nifemi interviewed former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal on TVC News. During the live interview, The Two engaged in a heated exchange, during which Lawal told Nifemi to "shut up".
The incident was subsequently reported by several Nigerian media organisations and prompted reactions from other media personalities, including broadcaster Reuben Abati.
MTN Media Innovation Programme
In 2024, Nifemi participated in the MTN Media Innovation Programme (MIP), organised by MTN Nigeria in partnership with the School of Media and Communication at Pan-Atlantic University. He served as president of the cohort.
During the study visit to South Africa, members of the cohort participated in discussions concerning African affairs and Nigeria–South Africa relations, including an engagement with former South African president Thabo Mbeki.
Education
Nifemi is an alumnus of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology and the National Broadcast Academy.
Awards and nominations
In 2014, Nifemi was nominated for Newscaster of the Year (TV) Male category at the Nigerian Broadcasters Merit Awards. In 2023, he received the Broadcast Media Personality of the Year Award at the Pacesetter Frontier Magazine Awards. In 2026, he was nominated for Best Newscaster (TV) Male category at the Nigerian Broadcasters Merit Awards, representing TVC.
Beyond the Headlines
Nifemi hosts Beyond the Headlines, a current-affairs programme on TVC News. TVC News publications identify him as the anchor of the programme in interviews with public officials and other guests.
