Newman Family (The Young and the Restless)
The Newman Family is one of the central families on the CBS Daytime Soap Opera: The Young and The Restless. They are an upper class family living in the fictional version of Genoa City, Wisconson. They are led by Patriarch business tycoon Victor Newman.
First Generation
Victor Newman
- Portrayed by Eric Braeden since 1980.
Victor Newman was a young boy born Christian Miller who was abandoned by his father, Albert Miller. When he was only 7 years old, his mother Cora handed him over to an orphanage due to her inability to provide for him and his brother Matthew. This empowers him with strong determination to be independent and successful in life. After leaving the orphanage, he officially changes his name to Victor Newman, a name symbolic of declaring himself a “victorious new man”, beginning the Newman Family. Victor's first marriage was to Julia Newman, but after their relationship ended, he has been involved with various women in Genoa City, such as Nikki Reed, Ashley Abbott and Diane Jenkins. Despite all of these relationships, Victor always manages to find his way back to the one true love of his life - Nikki, with whom he has two children with: Victoria Newman, portrayed by Amelia Heinle (originally born in 1982, SAROSed to 1970) and Nicholas Newman, portrayed by Joshua Morrow (originally born in 1988, revised to the late 1970s). He also has a son Adam Newman, from his previous marriage to a visually-impaired women - Hope Wilson. He also has a daughter with Ashley Abbott, Abby Newman.
Nikki Newman

Nikki Reed entered the show as a stripper and a prostitute, but her marriage to Victor Newman has allowed her to become one of the wealthiest socialites in Genoa City. She has two children, both with Victor: Victoria & Nicholas.
On her earliest years on the show, Nikki killed her own father in self-defence, as a result of him trying to [...] her while drunk. Nikki first met Victor while he was in the audience to a strip club she was performing at. It seemed to be "love" at first sight. Besides Victor, Nikki has also been involved with many people in Genoa City such as Brad Carlton, Jack Abbott, David Chow etc. Despite this, she has said on many occasions that Victor is the only man she will love eternally.
Ashley Abbott Newman

Ashley Abbott is the daughter of John Abbott, and the sister of Victor Newman's long time business arch rival: Jack Abbott portrayed by Peter Bergman. During Victor's first marriage to Nikki, he engaged in an affair with Ashley, and from then on he kept with him true feelings for her. Ashley then ended up pregnant with his child, but aborted it, this was a move she lived to regret.
When Victor donated his sperm to a sperm bank, Ashley stole it and ended up pregnant with a child, Abby Carlton, currently portrayed by Marcy Rylan. Ashley allowed her then husband Brad Carlton to adopt Abby, but Victor did not know the paternity of Abby until she told him when she was 5 years of age. Ashley was married to Victor in the 1990s, and remarried Victor in 2009. She ended up becoming pregnant again, but Adam Newman played a number of cruel jokes and schemes and Ashley ended up falling down the stairs which resulted in a miscarriage. Although, Adam made Ashley think she was pregnant, which allowed her to have her "hysterical pregnancy". When she went into labour, Adam stole Sharon Newman's baby and gave it to Ashley, and made Sharon think her baby was dead. Adam married Sharon in December 2009, but the marriage ended when the truth about the baby switch came out. Ashley and Victor divorced in 2010 and Victor slowly began another romance with Nikki Newman which ended up falling apart only for him to remarry Diane Jenkins
Diane Jenkins Newman

Diane Jenkins was first married to Victor Newman in 1997, most as a result of Victor and Jack Abbott's, her former romance, rivalry. However, once Nikki Newman was shot and appeared to be dying, Victor wanted to remarry Nikki for the last time. Amazingly, Nikki lived and Victor wanted to carry things on with Nikki. However, their marriage was invalid and Victor and Diane fought over terms of divorce until 2000. Shortly thereafter, she conspired to steal Victor's sperm, but Nikki ended up stealing it away and ended up in the hands of Ashley Abbott. Diane, however, ended up with Jack Abbott's sperm. She gave birth to Kyle Jenkins Abbott in 2001.
By 2010, Diane returned to town with Kyle and had an romance with her former step-son Nicholas Newman. However, that relationship ended, and she ended up with Victor again without Nick knowing. He ended up changing his mind, only to see Diane with Victor now, and they are married soon after. However, Diane continues to care for Nick and Nikki Newman and Victor are still being drawn close to each other. Eventually, Nikki and Victor's closeness causes Diane to initiate an affair with Jack Abbott, and Victor ended having an affair with Nikki. Soon after, Victor decided that the remarriage was a mistake and the marriage is annulled. However, Victor ends up deciding against that idea, while Diane, on the other hand, was invited by Tucker McCall, who was about to marry Ashley Abbott, to go to the Abbott Cabin for what would be a romantic eventing. In reality, it was Abby Newman who set up Diane and Tucker. She drove up to the cabin drunk with Ashley and ended up crashing into Tucker. Once at the hospital, Ashley suggests that she drove the car, thus protecting Abby. However, Diane feels that the driver hit Tucker intentionally. Once Victor and Jack learn about Diane's role in the whole event, they blame her and Victor kicks Diane off the Ranch and claims that she will get no money, unlike when their first marriage ended.
Hope Wilson

Hope Wilson is the blind late sixth wife of billionaire tycoon Victor Newman. Hope and Victor meet at her Nebraska farm they meet when Victor rescues her from being raped. He stays with her for a while and works on her farm. They get married in 1995 in Kansas and move to Genoa City. Hope becomes pregnant with a boy who both she and Victor fear will be blind as well. When this boy who they name Victor Adam Newman, Jr. is born Hope wants a divorce and decides to move back to Kansas. Hope and Victor divorce in 1997. She marries a man named Cliff Wilson who adopts Victor Jr. Victor occasionally vists Hope and his son. Years pass and Hope keeps Victor out of their son's life but after been diagnosed with cancer Hope and Victor reveal to their son that Victor is his father and her dying wish is to have Victor and Adam form a father-son bond.

Victoria Abbott

Victoria Nicole Newman Abbott is the first-born child of Victor and Nikki Newman. Originally born on screen in 1982, her birth year was changed to 1970. Victoria grew up a rebellious teenager who conspired all the time to reunite her parents. As a result of her constant acting out, Victor had her attend a boarding school in Switzerland. She returned a mature adult, and became involved with various men in Genoa city such as Ryan McNeil and Cole Howard. Unable to handle her family life, Victoria left in 2003.
Returning in 2005, Victoria straight away went into competition with her brother Nicholas Newman who was at the time CEO of Newman Enterprises. Victoria has been married to Brad Carlton and J.T. Hellstrom, and has a young son - Reed Hellstrom. She is currently married to Billy Abbott, much to the dismay of Victor, who hates the Abbott clan. Most recently, Victoria has taken on a new challenge of suing her own father, along with her sister Abby Newman. However the suit is over and Victoria and Victor have a good relationship.
Nicholas Newman
- Portrayed by Joshua Morrow ever since the character returned as a teen in 1994.
Nicholas Christian Newman is the son of Victor and Nikki Newman. He too, like his sister, was sent to boarding school in 1994 and returned a teenager. Originally dating Amy Wilson, he became involved with a young sweet girl named Sharon Collins, originally portrayed by Monica Potter, later Heidi Mark and Sharon Case. Nick and Sharon married and had two children: Noah Newman and Cassie Newman, whom Nick adopted (Cassie's biological father was Sharon's former boyfriend). Despite much family troubles, Nick has continued to be a successful business man working for Newman Enterprises.
In 2005 Nick's Cassie daughter died, and he had an adulterous affair with Phyllis Summers, resulting in the birth of their daughter: Summer Newman. Nick married Phyllis, but they are now divorced and Nick has a baby girl named Faith Newman with Sharon, who he is currently engaged to once again. He breaks the engagement off when she comes out to have feelings for Adam again.
Adam Newman

Victor Adam Newman, Jr. (also known as: Adam Wilson and Adam Newman) is the son of Victor Newman and his former wife Hope Wilson. Portrayed by various child actors from 1995 to 2002, Adam grew up on a farm in Kansas with his mother Hope, who was visually impaired. Adam grew up thinking his mother's second husband Cliff Wilson was his father but on her deathbed his mother revealed to him that Victor Newman was her first husband and his father. After she died in 2008, Adam accepted Victor's offer to come to Genoa City and work at Newman Enterprises. Adam started going by the name Adam Wilson and made it clear that he wanted nothing to do with the Newmans personally and that his move was strictly a business decision. Adam proved to be a smart but hasty businessman which impressed Victor at first but Victoria and Nick saw this as Adam competing with them for Victor's approval. Adam's resentment for Victor not being their for him during his childhood and disowning him after Adam selfishly took control of Newman Enterprises when everyone thought Victor had died caused him to work with Victor's archenemy Jack Abbott and forge a fake dairy about Victor committing a [...]. Adam was jailed for forging his own father's diary along with Jack Abbott.
In 2009, Adam befriended Victor's pregnant wife Ashley Abbott, but it was just an act. Abigail "Abby" Rachel Newman is the daughter of Victor Newman and Ashley Abbott. She was conceived when Ashley stole Victor's sperm from a sperm bank. Despite this, Abby was adopted by Brad Carlton who has been her father figure since her birth. During her early years, Abby was a little girl with high spirits. She also has a good friendship with her nephew Noah Newman who is older than her. Her stepfather Brad died in 2009, making it very hard on her. In 2010, Abby's age was revised and she appeared to be an adult. Most recently, Abby has started a relationship with Daniel Romalotti and along with her sister Victoria and brother successfully sued their father and each won 500 million dollars.However the suit is over and Victoria and Victor have a good relationship.
Sharon Newman

- She has been played by Sharon Case since 1994.
Sharon Collins came onto the show as an 18-year-old, looking after her mother Doris Collins. She was the new love interest for Nicholas Newman. Soon, Nick & Sharon started a family with their children- Cassie Newman and Noah Newman. After Cassie was killed in an accident in 2005, Sharon left Nick after he sought comfort in Phyllis Summers which resulted in an affair. Sharon has been married to Jack Abbott and Adam Newman. Most recently, she has had another child with Nick (who has now left Phyllis) named Faith, who was briefly thought to be dead at birth, but was just stolen by Adam Newman.
Phyllis Summers Newman
- Portrayed by Michelle Stafford from 1994 to 1997, and ever since 2000.
- The role was played by Sandra Neilson from 1997 to 1999.
Phyllis Summers was originally married to rock star Danny Romalotti with whom she had a son: Daniel Romalotti. Their marriage did not work out, and Phyllis then went on to be involved with lawyer Michael Baldwin, and later married tycoon Jack Abbott. In 2005, after Nicholas & Sharon Newman's daughter Cassie Newman died, Nick started an affair with Phyllis (and her son Daniel just happened to be the prime suspect to Cassie's death at the time). Nick left Sharon for Phyllis, and they had a baby girl named Summer Newman because Phyllis' maiden name is Summers. Since then, Phyllis has left Nick and is currently seeing her former husband Jack. Phyllis is well known for her rivalries with: Diane Jenkins, Sharon Newman, Christine Blair and Drucilla Winters.
Third Generation
Cassie Newman
- Portrayed by Camyrin Grimes through the Character's entire run (1997–2005).
Cassie Ann Newman is the biological daughter of Sharon and her former boyfriend Frank Berrit. Unable to provide for her daughter, Sharon gave the baby up for adoption, but in 1997 she was reunited with her after Sharon's friend Grace Turner tracked her down, living with an old lady named Millie, the mother of Alice Johnson, the women who adopted Cassie.
In 2005, Cassie started acting out and attracting guys. She died in a car accident, although it was thought that Daniel Romalotti was driving the car when it crashed, Cassie was the one driving underaged at 14. She told Nick and Sharon that they would have another baby girl someday, which they have. Since her death, Cassie has made guest appearances as a spirit to Nick & Sharon.
Noah Newman

Noah Christian Newman is the son of Nicholas and Sharon Newman, born in 1997. In 2005 Noah had to deal with the loss of his sister, Cassie, Following his father cheating on his mother, and leaving her for the pregnant Phyllis Summers. In 2008 Noah appeared to be a teenager, and started a relationship with a young bad girl named Eden, who his parents disapproved of. Despite this, Noah and Eden continued to secretly see each other and had [...] recently losing their virginity. Most recently, Noah has returned as an adult and had a date with Jana Hawkes and is now interested in music.
Summer Newman

Summer Newman is the daughter of Nicholas and Phyllis-Summers Newman. She was conceived over an affair they had in 2005. her name "Summer" was given to her as her mother's maiden name is Summers, and the fact that she was born during an ice storm. She was born in an elevator at Newman Enteprises, and was delivered by her mother's ex-husband Jack Abbott. In 2009, Summer was given nuts to eat by Patty Williams (she was allergic to nuts) and slipped into a coma, and woke up with a brain of a toddler. Since then, she has improved and loves spending time with her baby sister Faith Newman, despite the fact her parents are no longer together.
Reed Hellstrom

Reed Newman Hellstrom is the son of J.T. Hellstrom and Victoria Newman. He is born prematurely on December 3, 2007, after an accident leaves his mother in a coma. Victoria was exiting the partially destroyed parking garage in Clear Springs when a piece of falling debris struck her in the head. Victoria did not know Reed's paternity during the pregnancy. His biological father could be Victoria's estranged husband, Brad Carlton, or her lover & future husband J.T. Hellstrom. With Victoria and the unborn child's life hanging into balance, the Newman Family went to court to determine whose life should be saved. J.T. is revealed to be the father after Reed is born, and he and Victoria marry in February 2008 after she wakes up from her coma. Soon after the marriage, Reed contracts a staph infection, but recovers. His parents divorced in 2010, and along with his father he left the show in November 2010.
Faith Newman

Faith Cassidy Newman is the daughter of Sharon and Nicholas Newman. Faith's paternity is initially in question with Nicholas, Jack Abbott, and Billy Abbott as the possible fathers. A paternity test reveals that Nick is Faith's father. Adam Wilson kidnaps her at birth and passes her off as Ashley Abbott's child, leaving Sharon to believe her baby is dead. In 2010, the truth is revealed and Faith is reunited with Nicholas and Sharon. Originally, Ashley was going to name her child Hope, but later changed her name to Faith because she felt her baby had a lot of faith in her. As Sharon's baby, she was also going to be called Faith.
Lucy Abbott

Lucy Newman Abbott is the biological daughter of Daniel Romalotti and Daisy Carter and the adoptive daughter of Billy and Victoria Abbott. She is born in January 2011 when Daisy went into labor in Jana Hawkes's car while trying to escape Genoa City. Billy bought Lucy on the black market from Primrose DeVille the niece of Rose DeVille the person who stole their friend Nina Webster's baby boy many years ago. Victoria has tried to raise Lucy away from her grandfather, Victor Newman, but Nikki has pressured Victor into being there for the family.
Recently, Jana Hawkes uncovered the truth regarding Lucy and since Daniel Romalotti and Billy have been forced to come clean. As a result of a custody suit filed by Chloe Mitchell, Billy's ex-wife, Lucy was taken away from Billy and Victoria until more investigating is done regarding Lucy. Phyllis Summers has been open regarding her intent to have custody of Lucy, or at least visitation rights.
Newman Enterprises
On the business front, Victor Newman builds a corporate empire called Newman Enterprises, estimating himself a net-worth between $18 billion to $60 billion dollars. The company is a worldwide conglomerate which is made of three main divisions, including Newman Cosmetics division known by the brand names Brash and Sassy and Beauty of Nature, a Real Estate Division and a Venture Capitals Division. Currently, the main Newman Enterprises offices are located in the Newman Tower in the heart of Genoa City. The tower is also home to NVP Retreats offices.
Rivalry with Jabot Cosmetics
Through the years there has been a rivalry between Newman Enterprises and Jabot Cosmetics. This rivalry is due in part to the personal relationship between Victor Newman and Jabot worker and Co-CEO Jack Abbott. Throughout the years, Victor Newman has used Newman Enterprises to buy and sell Jabot, bruise it financially and attempted to shut it down.
All of this has led to Chancellor Industries (led by Katherine Chancellor) purchasing the company and running it as one of its in house divisions free of interference from Newman Enterprises.
NVP Retreats
After Nikki left Jabot (where she previously worked), she and Phyllis Summers Newman came up with an idea to create spas under the Jabot umbrella, and took it to Jack Abbott who shot it down as not feasible considering Jabot's instability. Phyllis and Jack had it out, and she quit her new job as Jabot Executive of Internet Affairs.
Nikki and Phyllis presented the idea to Victor Newman instead, and he agreed to fund the project and gave them an office in Newman Towers, and they called it NVP after Nikki, Victor and Phyllis. Sharon Newman was a spokesperson for NVP retreats for a while (2006–2007).

The Newman Ranch
The Newman Ranch is a Ranch located in Genoa City, which is was sold by Katherine Chancellor for Victor when he and his wife, Julia, moved here in 1980. Over the years, the Newman family children all lived here along with many of their spouses. Following Victor's divorce from Nikki in 1988, she remained living there with their two children but Victor still maintained ownership of the ranch. Over 10 years later, Ashley Abbott fought for control of the ranch following her divorce from Victor. However, shortly after she won, she gave it back to Victor after he took over her family's business Jabot Cosmetics.
