Neemat Daud Abdulrahim
Neemat Duad Abdulrahim (born January 7, 1965) is a Nigerian librarian, researcher, and administrator. She is the pioneer librarian of City Library, Abuja. Hajiya Neemat as she is fondly called is the Director of FCT Education Resource Centre, Abuja, and the Current Chairperson of Public and Community Libraries Section, African Library and Information Associations and Institutions.
Education
Neemat Abdulrahim bagged her Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (1987) before proceeding to University of Abuja where she completed her Master’s degree in Public Administration in (2005) and a Post Diploma in Education (2010).
Career
She started her career as a young librarian at the Central Medical Library, Yaba Lagos in 1989, before moving to Abuja in 1991 to join the service of Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) now Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) in the role of Librarian 1. She was promoted to the position of Education Officer 1 (1991), Senior Education Officer (1995), Principal Education Officer (1999), Assistant Chief Education Officer (2001), Chief Education Officer (2003), Assistant Director/Head of City Library, FCT Education Resource Centre (2010), and the current Director of FCT Education Resource Centre.
Contribution to Library, Education & Literacy Development
Hajiya Neemat Abdulrahim is responsible for piloting the take-off of the City Library in 2006 and the Gudu District Library in 2009. She also initiated the annual summer holiday programme tagged BEARHUG for primary and secondary school aged children, and an Innovative Literacy Training program for the Almajiris (Homeless Youths). furthermore, she initiated the launch of City Library’s virtual services at the FCT City Library at a particularly crucial time as public libraries and other institutions around the world go into physical lockdown in the wake of the covid-19 pandemic.

She is a member of several professional bodies including the African Library and Information Associations and Institutions (AfLIA); Certified Librarian of Nigeria (CLN); Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN); Nigeria Library Association (NLA); where she was the National Treasurer (2009-2016), Readers Association of Nigeria (RAN), where she is the current president - FCT chapter; Association of Women Librarian in Nigeria (AWLIN), of which was a National Secretary and Chairman of the FCT chapter.
