ASEAN Federation of Accountants
The ASEAN Federation of Accountants (AFA) was organised in March 1977 to serve as the umbrella organisation for the recognised national Professional Accountancy Organisations (PAOs) of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member states. Through its ten primary members, AFA has a regional network of more than 200,000 accountants in the ASEAN region, supported by a global network of associate members with more than 2.5 million members worldwide.
AFA primary members are the recognised national PAOs of the ASEAN member states, created under a specific statute or regulation of that particular country, or in the absence thereof, the recognised national organisation of accounting professionals in said country. They are:
# Brunei Darussalam Institute of Certified Public Accountants (BICPA) - for Brunei Darussalam;
# Kampuchea Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Auditors (KICPAA) - for Cambodia;
# Ikatan Akuntan Indonesia (Institute of Indonesia Chartered Accountants - IAI) - for Indonesia;
# Lao Chamber of Professional Accountants and Auditors (LCPAA) - for Lao PDR;
# Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) - for Malaysia;
# Myanmar Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) - for Myanmar;
# Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) - for the Philippines;
# Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) - for Singapore;
# Federation of Accounting Professions (TFAC) - for Thailand; and
# Vietnam Association of Accountants and Auditors (VAA) - for Vietnam.
AFA associate members are the recognised bodies of accounting professionals of any ASEAN member states, or international recognised bodies of accounting professionals from other countries which are friendly to and supportive of the objectives of AFA - even though they may be outside the territorial jurisdiction of ASEAN. They are:
# Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT);
# CPA Australia;
# Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ);
# The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA);
# The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW);
# The Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA);
# The Japanese Institute of Certified Public Accountants (JICPA);
# Insitut Akuntan Publik Indonesia (Indonesian Institute of Certified Public Accountants - IAPI); and
#
AFA is an accredited civil society organisation of the ASEAN recognised under the ASEAN Charter and a network partner of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).
