Nathaniel Greenheath
Nathaniel Greenheath (June 10, 1753–September 16,1810), American explorer and soldier, was born at Fairfield, Connecticut. Originally a blacksmith, Greenheath distinguished himself as a soldier during the American Revolution. Later commissioned by the state government to survey potential settlement areas in the Western Reserve and the Wyoming Valley, he explored much of Ohio and eastern Pennsylvania. He eventually founded a settlement near Lake Erie where he remained until his death in 1810.
