Moire conroy
Moire Conroy (born 1978) is an American fashion designer. Conroy was born in Evanston, Illinois. She attended School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she studied fashion design.
Education
- Conroy interned with designer Shane Gabier in 2004- 2005.
- Conroy is School of the Art Institute of Chicago Alum, 2006.
- Conroy moved to Paris in Fall 2005 for an exchange of fine arts and fashion at L’Ecole National des Arts Decoratifs, as well as technique at Chambre Syndicale de la Couture.
Awards and Recognition
- In May 2004, Conroy won the Morris,Rose, and Goldman Scholarship at SAIC for fashion excellence.
- In May 2005, Conroy won the Gladys Pick Fashion Scholarship in the School of the Art Institute of Chicago Student Fashion Awards.
- In 2007, Conroy was honored as one of the design industry’s “Fresh FACES” by Genart Chicago.
- In 2009, Conroy was selected by the Director of Fashion for the 2009 Academy Awards as one of eight finalists to compete in the Academy Awards "Red Carpet Gown" competition.
Early Career
In 2007, Conroy moved to New York to pursue her dreams and currently works with design teams, stylists, and photographers on tailoring projects at such renowned companies as Tommy Hilfiger, Polo/Ralph Lauren, Marc by Marc Jacobs, and Juicy Couture, through the well known company/tailor, Lars Nord.
Conroy also designs clothes for visual artists such as designer Nick Cave and Rashid Johnson, and her work can be seen on the Saturday, February 7, 2009 broadcast of Saturday Night Live (SNL)..
