Merideth Marsh

Merideth Marsh is an American basketball player. She is entering her senior season for the Vanderbilt Commodores. At Vanderbilt University, she is majoring in Human & Organizational Development.

Playing career

High school

Marsh played her High School basketball at Christian Academy. As a four year starter for head coach Ron Rice, she averaged 19.3 points per game, 5.1 rebounds per game, 4.5 assists per game and 2.4 steals per game. Marsh led the team to a 20-10 record her senior season as the only starter to return from the previous year's district championship squad. Heading into her senior year, she was ranked as the No. 6 player in the state by the Courier-Journal. While in high school, she was the AAU teammate of future Vanderbilt teammate Amber Norton. With Norton, she participated on the Kentucky All-Star team.

Vanderbilt

In 2006-07, she played a reserve role in 31 of 34 games. She led all FreshMen, averaging 4.5 points in 12.7 minutes per game. On two separate occasions, she scored twice in double-figures twice, both times against Georgia, including a 15-point performance in the SEC Tournament semifinals. In the semifinals, she connected on 10-of-10 free throws in that contest. Against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, she had a season-high seven assists. She had five or more assists against Lipscomb, Alabama and Georgia. At season’s end, she connected on 83.9 percent of her free throw attempts.

Her sophomore year was 2007-08 and she led the team in scoring in games against Auburn(19 points, February 28) and Alabama (16 points, March 2). For her efforts, she was the SEC Player of the Week in the first week of March 2008. For the week that she was honoured, Marsh averaged 17.5 points per game during the week, nearly double her 9.0 points per game average. In the game against Auburn, she tied a career high with 19 points at Auburn, making five three-pointers for the second time this season. She connected on 9-of-15 three-pointers during the week (60%). In the game against Alabama, she scored 16 points in a game where no Commodore played more than 26 minutes. She scored game-high totals in both of VU's final two regular season contests as the Commodores set a school record for conference wins in a season (11).

Other highlights of the season included her first career start was a win over Duke. She played her first 40-minute game against Tennessee in the SEC Tournament. In a win over South Florida, she scored a career-high 19 points on 5-of-5 shooting from behind-the-arc in win over South Florida. In her junior year, Marsh continued to improve. On February 12, 2009, Merideth Marsh tied the school record by hitting eight 3-pointers as Vanderbilt had an 84-68 upset victory over the Florida Gators. The following game, Vanderbilt’s Pink Out game vs. Georgia on February 15, Marsh had 18 points in an 80-64 win. In the SEC Tournament Championship Game, Marsh scored 11 points and played 40 minutes, as Vanderbilt defeated Auburn 73-70.
