Birchwood Automotive Group

The Birchwood Automotive Group is an automotive retail network based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Founded in 1963 by R.M. Chipman, it has grown into becoming Winnipeg's largest automotive retailer with nine dealerships and employing over five hundred people. Its coporate headquarters is located at the Pointe West Auto Park just west beyond Winnipeg's Perimeter Highway.

GM Restructuring

On May 22nd, 2009, as part of its restructuring program, GM Canada announced that it will not renew its sales and service agreements with an estimated 245 dealers across Canada when it expires at the end of October 2010 with seven dealerships being in Winnipeg. Birchwood Pontiac Buick GMC, the first dealership of the automotive group, is among those dealerships being shut down.
