Maple Giant

Maple Giant is an independent theatre company which aims to bring together new talent across Oxford, formed in 2005 by Stephen Wiggins and Amy Cooke-Hodgson.

Cooke-Hodgson is an actor and singer who regularly performs with the improvised comedy group, 'The Oxford Imps', recently performing at the Gilded Balloon in Edinburgh where the group received a 5-star review. She is a teacher and currently lives in Oxford. In 2000, Wiggins produced and directed A Slice of Saturday Night, the final MusicAL production at Westminster College, Oxford. In 2005 Wiggins was co-director of St. Columba's choir, conducting and performing a varied mix of choral works. Stephen works for the University of Portsmouth.

The company produces contemporary theatre, concerts and cabaret evenings; most recently staging a production of {proof} – the award winning play by David Auburn staged in the OFS Studio Theatre in Oxford [Oct 08].

Maple Giant was one of the first UK theatre companies to have staged the off-broadway musical The Last 5 Years [June 8]. Their city centre theatre debut was with the musical revue Personals written by the creators of hit sit-com, Friends. Their next show is to be Larson's tick...tick...BOOM! also staged at the OFS in June 2009.

Maple Giant support the work of Escape Artists and a percentage of every ticket sold is donated to their work.
