Malik Mohammad Jehangir
Malik Mohammad Jehangir (), was born to Malik Muhammad Nazir in Hafizabad District, Punjab, Pakistan. He is Executive Director of White Pearl Group of Companies, Pakistan, comprised of White Pearl Rice Mills Limited, Karachi and Hafizabad, White Pearl Jute Mills, Hafizabad and Indus Jute Mills, Dhabeji, Pakistan and Director of Royal Industries Indonesia.
Early Life and Education
He did his Masters in Political Science from the University of Punjab, Lahore. In 1962, his father, started the White Pearl Group of Companies, (an agro based rice and jute products mills) in the small village of Solgin Kharl, Jalalpur Bhattian, Hafizabad District, Punjab, Pakistan.
Business career
In 1985, he joined family business of rice husking, milling and trading. In 1989, he started White Pearl Rice Mills, Hafizabad and in 1997 along with his father established White Pearl Jute Mills, Hafizabad. In 2003, he acquired Indus Jute Mills Ltd, Dhabeji, Thatta District, Sindh, Pakistan. In 2004, he established PT Royal Industries in Indonesia to expand family business and is responsible for handling national and International affairs of the group.
Leadership
He being Chairman of Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) and in other capacities led many trade delegations to Australia, Comoros, Indonesia, Iran, Kenya, Mauritius, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, UAE, South Africa, Thailand and Yemen.
Community Services
He is providing financial, moral and social support to the Baba Farid Trust, Pakpattan, Fatima Memorial Hospital, Lahore and Shaukat Khanum Hospital, Lahore.
Awards
Mr. Yousaf Raza Gillani, Ex-Prime Minister of Islamic Republic of Pakistan awarded a Gold Medal to him for his performance being elected Chairman of Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) for tenure 2009-2010.
He was Vice Chairman of Pakistan Jute Mills Association (PJMA) for the tenure of 2008-2009 and Chairman during 2011-12. He was Chairman of REAP for the year 2009-2010 and Vice Chairman for the tenure of 2011-2012. During his tenure, Pakistan’s rice exports have registered a growth of 57 percent (exported about 3.5 million tonnes of rice which included 1.2 million tonnes of Basmati Rice and about 2.3 million tonnes of IRRI-6 Rice and other varieties of rice).
The Republic of the Union of Myanmar, appointed him as Honorary Consul General of Myanmar in Pakistan.
