Lord Cultural Resources

Lord Cultural Resources was founded in 1981 by Barry Lord and Gail Dexter Lord. This cultural professional practice is comprised of some 44 professionals and support staff to serve their national and international client base through a network of offices in Toronto, Ottawa, New York, San Francisco, Madrid, Paris, Bahrain and Beijing.

Established in response to the need for specialized planning services in the museum, cultural and heritage sector, this firm has earned an international reputation for excellence based on successful completion of more than 1,700 museum planning assignments worldwide in 45 countries on 6 continents.

In addition to its extensive practical planning experience, Lord Cultural Resources has made a definite contribution to the development of museum planning through its pioneering publications. In 1991, Gail Dexter Lord and Barry Lord co-edited The Manual of Museum Planning (Second EDition 1999). The Manual of Museum Management was published in 1997 (Second Edition 2009), and the third publication in the series, The Manual of Museum Exhibitions, was launched in 2001. The Manual of Strategic Planning for Museums and The Manual of Museum Learning were published in 2007.

Lord Cultural Resources also issues a quarterly newsletter, Cultural Capital, exploring the latest topics and issues concerning the museum world.
