Light of Doom is an American teenage rock band based in Escondido, California, a suburb of San Diego. Its influences include heavy-metal band Iron Maiden.

History

The band began in Spring 2005 as an offshoot of music lessons at Experience Studios in Escondido, California, a city north of San Diego. Adam Bruck, a music teacher and band coach at Experience Studios, organized young players into bands, helping them write original material and had them perform live shows. He has started many small bands among mostly teenage kids. He originally had the band play at a cafe in Escondido called The Metaphor, and often at The Jumping Turtle.

The band consisted of Dillon Cahill, Erik Griffin, and Mitchell Wofford. They were later joined by two other young musicians: guitarist Daniel Futcher and bass player Lucas Canziani.

As of October 2007, Light of Doom has played the House of Blues in Anaheim and San Diego, the Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood, and Soma San Diego. Most recently, the band was selected as a finalist for the premiere season of The Next Great American Band on Fox.

The taping for the show premiere was held at Lake Las Vegas, Nevada the week of August 18, 2007. During these broadcasted eliminations, Light of Doom was selected by The Next Great American Band judges John Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls, drummer Sheila E. and Aussie “Idol” judge Ian Dickson, to be one of 12 bands to compete in the finals. They have since been the pick for the Vote for the Worst website, being dubbed as a "metal Hanson." Light of Doom was voted off the show on December 14, 2007They came in 4th place.

The band dedicated its first studio performance in the competition to "Grizz," the head of the band's security team at Experience Studios and also good friend of the band. Grizz lost his home in Ramona, CA to the southern California wildfires.
