Maci Wainwright
Maci Nicole Wainwright (born January 8, 1990) is an American country music singer-songwriter from Bethany, Oklahoma.
Biography
Born in Edmond, Oklahoma, Wainwright played piano and guitar in kindergarten and began performing publicly at the age of seven. At the age of eleven, Wainwright auditioned for the Oklahoma Opry, a well-known country music opry. She was mentored by Grant Leftwich, the opry’s creator throughout her years performing in the opry. However, Leftwich passed away in 2006. Wainwright was given the opportunity to perform at his funeral.
Highlights of her career include performing alongside Vince Gill and Toby Keith in a concert for the 10th anniversary of the Oklahoma City Bombing in 2005 and performing "You're The Reason God Made Oklahoma" with David Frizzell. In 2005, she released her first album Good Day as well as writing and recording a jingle for KWTV's News 9's This Morning, a local morning show aired in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Wainwright has written songs with Don Shlitz – who has worked with Alison Krauss and Steve Williams, a songwriter who has worked with Craig Morgan among many other songwriters. Although not currently signed to a label, Wainwright signed with BMI Nashville and she and her producers have agreed on an artist development deal in order to sign Wainwright to a record label.
