Kia Jam
Kia Jam (b. February 17, 1970) is a producer at Capitol Films.
Biography
Jam graduated as a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society from the University of California, Irvine with a degree in Political Science.
Work
Jam was recruited by James Cameron's visual effects powerhouse Digital Domain where he was involved in all levels of production on over 60 television commercials, including a Clio Award-winning Jeep commercial and David Fincher’s Grammy Award-winning Rolling Stones music video, "Love is Strong".
Afterwards, he was President of KJAM Productions, an independent film production company based in Santa Monica, California. In 2002, Jam produced Juwanna Mann for Morgan Creek and Warner Bros. He also produced Dungeons & Dragons with Joel Silver (Matrix, Lethal Weapon) for New Line Cinema starring Jeremy Irons and Marlon Wayans.
After his work with KJAM, Jam became a principal founder at Ascendant Pictures, an independent film production and finance company based in Beverly Hills. Along with its subsidiary companies (Rising Star), Ascendant Pictures co-financed 18 movies for over 750 million dollars in a five year period. Mr. Jam has served in a producing capacity on all of Ascendant Pictures’ projects including Lucky Number Slevin, The Big White, Ask the Dust, and The Jacket.
Jam currently works as a producer at Capitol Films, and recently completed photography of the motion picture Nailed. Among the films Jam was involved with as a producer are Five Dollars a Day and Black Water Transit, and he is developing Future Force X. Jam is currently prepping "Getting Out" written and directed by Sidney Lumet.
Jam is also involved in the fund-raising and the alignment of strategic partners for Capitol and its parent company CT1.
International consulting
Jam is currently the exclusive U.S. consultant for Xinhua Media Entertainment (XME) and Xinhua Finance Media (XFM), the first Chinese media company to have gone public on the NASDAQ, raising over $350 million in early 2007.
