Kathie Rasmussen Women's Theatre

The Kathie Rasmussen Women's Theatre, founded in 2008 in Madison, Wisconsin, is a community theater company that promotes women playwrights and directors. The founders, Artistic Director Jan Levine Thal, Program Director Heather Renken, and Technical Director Ben Emerick, were joined in the first year by a number of ACTIVE volunteers including Development Director Deanna Reed.

Welcoming both women and men to its ranks, the organization began with an ambitious project of workshopping plays by nine women writers, with the first scheduled performances in the fall of 2009. The plays were selected from a large number of original submissions, both comedies and dramas. The plays explored diverse issues including family relationships, the Middle East, and talking turtles.
