Karis Wilde
Karis Wilde (born September 16, 1982) is a Mexican-American model, performer, and artist. He is known for his androgynous presentation in multiple videos & advertisements, costume work, and hooping performances.
Early life
Karis was born in a small town in Mexico that is only 115 years old, and moved to L.A when he was just months old. He was raised along the San Fernando Valley, graduating from Chatsworth High School and was the first boy in the school's history to attend prom dressed in drag.
Career
One week out of high school Karis started his costume fabrication career as an Assistant Designer, making and designing garments for Marilyn Manson's tour. After Manson, Karis worked for other artists like Slipknot, Disturbed, Queens of the Stone Age, TLC, Ludacris, Vanessa Carlton, Jurassic 5 and actresses Angelina Jolie and Daryl Hannah. Karis has starred in music videos for The Scissor Sisters' song "Filthy Gorgeous", Cazwell's "Tonight" and 's song "Raise Your Glass."
Hooping
Somewhere along this journey, Karis picked up the hula-hoop and has transformed himself into one of the best-known hoop dancers on the West Coast. Audiences note his androgyny, charm, charisma, and sensuality. Karis has performed with L.A. based groups The Mutaytor and Lucha VaVoom. With Lucha VaVoom, his performance is a combination of hoop maneuvers and striptease. He is featured heavily in the Hula Hoop documentary “The Hooping Life,” directed by Amy Goldstein.
Modelling
Karis has endorsed the Philip's Satinelle Ice Epilator in a recent advertising campaign by DDB. The European television commercials have garnered a Cannes Lions nomination.
