Ehsan Khoshbakht
Ehsan Khoshbakht (born 1981) is an Iranian film critic, jazz scholar and architect, though most of his writing are on western cinema. He writes for Film Monthly, Iranian International Film Quarterly, 24 Monthly, Auteurs , Noir City Sentinel, and other online film journals.
His online writings and republishing of his older materials, on both cinema and jazz, appear on his two blogs, Notes on Cinematograph and Take the "A" Train .
Biography
Ehsan Khoshbakht grew up in Northern Khorasan, Iran and developed a lifelong interest in cinema and jazz as a teen. He launched his work as a film critic for Film Monthly alongside studying master of architecture.
Career
He runs a monthly column fro Film Monthly, named "Bazkhaniha" (means rediscoveries), about forgotten films and directors in history of cinema.
He teaches film history, language of film and genre study in private institutions. And also as a regular lecturer appears in universities and film events. His writings include essays on Eric Rohmer, Jacques Tati, Robert Bresson, Sam Peckinpah, Alfred Hitchcock, John Ford, Charles Chaplin, Silent film music, Rockumentary, Russian formalist cinema, and film noir.
He is the author of Celluloid Architecture book, on architecture and cinema.
