Joseph Hayat

Joseph Hayat (born 19 April 1993) is a young British entrepreneur dubbed the 'worlds youngest airline boss' and a young politician. He is currently the Deputy Member of Youth Parliament for the constituency of Sleaford & North Hykeham within Lincolnshire West.

Hayat was born in Peterborough, UK in 1993. He was educated at Lincoln Minster School where he obtained nine GCSE’s. He is a former pupil of Sleaford Joint Sixth Form where he studied A-levels in Business, Geography and Travel & Tourism.

Personal life

In October 2010, Hayat was one of three teenagers in the UK to be nominated for the Teen Entrepreneur Award at the first ever BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards.

Member of Youth Parliament

Hayat was elected in February 2010 as the Deputy Member of Youth Parliament (DMYP) for Lincolnshire West which entails the constituencies of Sleaford & North Hykeham and Gainsborough. He came second in the election, losing by a mere 3% as he obtained 20% of the votes (892) whilst Chris Bridgwood (MYP) obtained an overall majority of 23% (1009).

As a young politician he is outspoken and a strong believer of young people’s rights, as demonstrated in subsequent interviews discussing his campaigns to improve the public image of young people.

Hayat was one of the organisers behind Lincolnshire’s first ever young person’s festival ‘LinX’s Festival’.

His three current campaigns consist of improving young people's access to transport in Lincolnshire , promoting enterprise and fighting the issue of [...] grooming.

Ventures

Zeal Wave

The young entrepreneur started his first business Zeal Wave in February 2009, aged fifteen. Hayat launched the company with former business partner Callum Hives. Zeal Wave was an IT solutions company that provided solutions to the homes and businesses of Navenby and the surrounding Cliff Villages. The duo started the company independently with an investment of £180 savings each and by utilising their high school education.

Despite the then economic recession, the company was in fact a huge success, resulting in the duo moving into their own premises in December 2009. However following his win in the UK Youth Parliament elections in February 2010, Hayat decided to sell his shares in Zeal Wave. In light of this, Hives ceased trading as 'Zeal Wave' and re-launched operations under the identity of Calcom Enterprises. Hives continues to trade to this day and has moved into the telecoms and hosting sector.

Events

In Spring 2010, Hayat briefly invested in the events management industry organising a clubbing event at Rehab night club in Sleaford for young people to enjoy and to showcase local young talent. Despite the events reported success, no further events have been hosted by Hayat since.

HiAir

Hayat originally founded HiAir in July 2010. He originally had a launch party for the ad-hoc air charter brokerage scheduled for July 28th 2010. However it was reported that the party at East Midlands Airport was cancelled the day before due to an administrational error. It is rumored that the party was in fact scheduled to be at Gamston Airport.

It was later reported that the cancellation wasn't due to administration issues and was in fact due to the difficulties that Hayat reportedly faced with HM Revenue Customs, UK Border Agency and Special Branch over border control requirements and security concerns that stopped the party and operations from occurring and both hindered his operation and relationship with the airport. This was confirmed by Hayat when he later launched operations in August 2010 operating from no specific airport base

In November 2010 it was revealed that Joseph had received investment from Ben King at the expense of 51% of his company and that HiAir had in fact become incorporated as a limited company. Hayat is thus the Co-Director of HiAir Ltd, and the company is based in Wellingore, UK specialising in air charter and corporate travel.

In May 2011 it was announced that HiAir would operate a daily service between Robin Hood Airport and Amsterdam Airport.
