Jorge Ramos (Brazil)

Jorge Paulo Ramos, most known as Jorge Ramos, is a sport marketing and institutional communication specialist, with a multidisciplinary background and large expertise in the creation and implementation of new concepts in TV, video and other electronic media segments.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Ramos has a B.A. in Physical Education (1962) and lives in Rio and New York since 1987.

Since 2005, Mr. Ramos concentrates his efforts on Virtual Promotions Ltd, the company contracted with FISU–the International University Sports Federation and owner of the exclusive rights for the creation, implementation and marketing of the FISU Web Games, an exclusive and unprecedented entrepreneurship entitled to organize international online official championships among the 130 millions university students worldwide community.

Accomplishments

As founder and President (until the present days) of International Sports, Ltd, created in 1987 and based in New York, Mr. Ramos was the direct responsible for the complete restructuring of the marketing arm of the Pan American Basketball Confederation (COPABA), the organization responsible for basketball in the Americas.

International Sports Ltd was also responsible for the marketing of all commercial properties of all official FIBA/COPABA (FIBA Americas presently) basketball tournaments until 2004, encompassing more than 40 international competitions. This operation saw its greatest accomplishment in the Pre-Olympic Qualifying Tournament (in Portland, USA) for the Barcelona Olympic Games, where, for the first time, world basketball fans saw professional players from the United States, the “Dream Team”.

In 1991, Mr. Ramos was special consultant on the production of Pele’s 50th Birthday Game, which was played in Rome in 1991 and broadcast throughout the world.

Previously to his international career, Mr. Ramos has worked in the Marketing Department of TV Globo of Brazil for more than 15 years. He was a founder of Globotec, a Globo company which pioneered TV program and videotape distribution in the Brazilian market and also produced television commercials.
