John Ezeobi

John Ezeobi is a Nigerian industrialist and entrepreneur, founder and Chairman of Zobis Electrical Wires and Cables Limited, a cable manufacturing company based in Anambra State, Nigeria.

Early life and career

Ezeobi founded Zobis Cables in 2006 while still a university student, starting the company with an initial capital of ₦1,350. In 2010, he established an affiliate company, John Zobis Engineering, expanding into civil and mechanical engineering.

Business

Under Ezeobi's leadership, Zobis Cables grew to become one of the largest cable manufacturers in southeastern and south-southern Nigeria, supplying products to oil servicing companies and the Nigerian military. The company's manufacturing facility in Okoti, Anambra State, sits on approximately 400 plots of land.

In 2024, Ezeobi stated that the Nigerian cable and wire market was valued at over ₦200 billion annually, and raised concerns about the impact of substandard imported cables on local manufacturers.

In July 2026, Ezeobi presented plans for the Zobis Industrial City to Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo, a proposed multi-sector industrial development spanning Okoti, Odekpe, and Ogbaru local government areas, intended to include cable manufacturing plants, copper production facilities, and a research and development institute.

Awards and recognition

In December 2025, Ezeobi was honoured by the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) with an Industrial Enterprise National Impact Award for his contributions to local sourcing and manufacturing. He was also named The Sun (Daily Sun) Industrialist of the Year for 2025.
