The Jimmy King Memorial Scholarship is a scholarship awarded to a musician from Manitoba, Canada who exemplify outstanding ability in the area of jazz music. Awarded by a handful of Winnipeg, Manitoba jazz experts (hand-picked by the Winnipeg Musicians Association), the scholarship requires that all applicants submit a CD featuring 10–15 minutes of their playing (submitting recordings of varying jazz styles is recommended), a resume of their jazz experience and general musical background, and any letters of recommendation they may choose to submit. The scholarship is widely seen as the award that annually honours the most talented up and coming jazz star of the province.
