Brian LaViolette Foundation

Brian LaViolette (January 23, 1977-August 8, 1992)

Since 1992, the year of Brian LaViolette’s death, the Brian LaViolette Scholarship Foundation has been working to ensure his plans for making a difference are carried on. The Brian LaViolette Scholarship Foundation has awarded nearly 400 scholarships in its first 16 years of existence. They currently present over 40 scholarships annually in 10 states and the countries of Poland and South Africa .

The Scholarship of Honor program was established in the fall of 2003 to pay tribute to those who received our nation’s highest award for valor, the Medal of Honor.

When the LaViolette family began to hear about the sons, daughters, brothers and sisters from our community who died in the War on Terror, they wanted to honor and remember them by offering scholarships in their names. With the financial support of so many, the Scholarship of Honor also pays tribute to the fallen service members’ family—a grieving family looking for purpose, friends looking to remember and a grateful nation looking to honor.

The Scholarship of Honor is an award to recognize those with plans to enlist in the military or pursue a career in public safety or community service. These noble fields include law enforcement, police science, fire safety, EMT services, nursing, teaching and ministry. The program has allowed our message to touch the lives of many around the world. Scholarships are now awarded in a nationwide effort from Gettysburg to Honolulu, as well as two foreign countries.
