Jeju Global Education City
Project Overview
Jeju Global Education City, a Korean government-led national project, has been planned with the purpose of enhancing national competitiveness through the provision of global education via the medium of English. It is also intended as an education-based urban development project whose focus is directed primarily at the cultivation of Korean students of world-class ability. With residential, commercial, recreational, and educational facilities collocated, students will receive a high standard of education, providing them with world-class educational opportunities while eliminating the need to travel abroad.
Location
Jeju Global Education City is located within Seogwipo, a city on the southeastern coast of Jeju Island. Situated in the center of Northeast Asia, the island is within two hours’ flying time of five cities with over 10 million inhabitants, and has a total potential market of 750 million people.

(1) Beneficiaries of Education
Students from other parts of Asia as well as Korean students
Jeju Global Education City offers education to multinational students from China, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong and other parts of Asia, as well as Korean students. Students who choose Jeju Global Education City will not only acquire the primary international language, English, in a natural way, but will experience self-driven development and learning according to their individual abilities and interests. In addition, they will be cultivated as talents with the capacity for independent and flexible thinking through selection and immersion in various learning opportunities.
(2) Types of Schools
Primary and secondary education
Primary and secondary schools providing internationally accredited curricula for students from Grades 1 to 12 will be established. Higher education institutions and life-long education institutions will be established to offer an arena in which all age groups will be able to share the joy of learning.
Internationally accredited curriculum
The curriculum offered in the primary and secondary schools in Jeju Global Education City will be recognized both in and outside of Korea. Students studying in the city can transfer to other accredited schools in Korea and overseas.
Day schools and boarding school
Elementary schools will be operated as a type of day school, whereas middle and high schools will be operated as boarding schools.
Demand for international schools
According to surveys, there is high demand for international schools in Korea. There will be around 450,000 potential students for the Jeju Global Education City based on our demand survey results.
NLCS (North London Collegiate School)
NLCS is being established in Jeju as the very first prestigious foreign school operated in Korea based on the same policy and curriculum applied in their home country. The school that NLCS is establishing in Jeju will retain its school legacy, as well as its overall curriculum used in the U.K. In addition, NLCS will provide an exchange program for NLCS students in Jeju to study at the U.K. campus. NLCS will also be the first foreign school in Korea to issue its own diploma, which will have the same effect as a diploma issued by educational institutions in the U.K.
