Jeffrey Owen Lonetree
Jeffrey Owen Lonetree (born February 7th, 1970 in Portage, Wisconsin) is a Native American Television Photojournalist and Lighting Director, known for his work with Local Television Affiliates, Network Broadcast and Closed Circuited Television programs. He's not married and is ACTIVE since 1989.
Childhood
Jeffrey Owen Lonetree was born in Portage, Wisconsin at Devine Savior Hospital at 10:32 p.m. He is the son of Lillie (Nez), a Navajo Nation Native American, accountant, administrative assistant and Norval Owen Lonetree, a Ho-Chunk Nation Native American, Mechanic, Machinist, Welder, Race Car Driver and later a Supervisor of Mechanics at the Peabody Coal Company at Black Mesa Mine in Arizona. He has two brothers, the eldest Brother named Vincent Lonetree and younger brother named Boyd Lonetree and Sister named Sherry (Lonetree) Gray. Jeffrey Owen Lonetree is a member of the Ho-Chunk Nation and the grandson of his father's parents: Edward Lonetree Sr. and Grandmother Minnie (Decorah) Lonetree. The grandson of his mother's parents: Charles and Julia Nez.
Early in his life he attended different school city and township districts of Wisconsin until the age of ten.
His family Moved to Arizona in 1980, where he attended Shonto Boarding School but was not a boarding student. His mother was the School Accountant and his father worked for the Peabody Coal Company.
Career
Jeffrey was eight years old when he began to be interested in a 35mm Camera his father gave to his mother for Christmas "I pretended to take photos without really taking photos [...] I found an interest with the framing thing.", says Jeff. He was first hired at the Safe-way Grocery Store in Flagstaff, as an after school job. He became a reliable employee and, after encouragement from his mother, he filed an application at the Local Television station, KNAZ-TV. He was hired by Don Franzen, the Production Manager, as a Tele-prompter operator. He proved his dedication to television news and was awarded a position: News Photographer. He was then recognized by KVBC-TV, Las Vegas, NV. in 1989 and hired. His parents relocated him to Las Vegas, Nevada. His real journalism career began at nineteen years old.
