Appearance on Trading Spouses (Season 2)
Jeanne D'Amico (then known as Jeanne D'Amico Flisher) appeared on Trading Spouses in the two-part premiere which aired November 2 and November 9, 2005. D'Amico is A New Age humanist, and trade homes with Marguerite Perrina self–described strong Christian fanatic. At that time she lived in, Boxborough , Massachusetts.
During her time with the Perrin family, D'Amico avoided mention of topics such as astrology, but did attempt hypnotherapy on Perrin's eldest daughter Ashley (with Ashley's consent) to induce weight loss as she was trying to lose weight at the time.
Like Perrin, D'Amico feels the whole story of what happened on Trading Spouses was not told due to editing. The final meeting between D'Amico and Perrin before returning to their families was, as described by D'Amico, quite tense and very upsetting for her. The meeting left D'Amico in fear for her family.
Life after Trading Spouses
After the experience of Trading Spouses Chris Flisher and D'Amico divorced. D'Amico cites strain of trying to blend two families (both she and Flisher had children from other marriages), difference of child rearing technigues, Chris' insecurity, the stresses andstrains of married life including those created by the show.
On February 19, 2006 D'Amico wrote on her blog that she has read Perrin's website and was concerned about what Perrin has been saying and reporting about her (D'Amico's) life and family.
D'Amico believed that the personal lives of each family, and the outing of her stage name (which she had taken for security reasons), were not open for discussion once their episode had been taped/aired. D'Amico did not appreciate Perrin's comments and felt forced to rebut them.
In the same blog entry D'Amico spoke of her sadness that Perrin did not show the same respect for her family's beliefs that they had shown for hers. She also felt that the same courtesy she had extended to Perrin in listening to her (Perrin) opinions of the D'Damico - Flisher family were not returned in kind.
D'Amico also expressed sadness that she was not permitted to send her gifts to the Perrin family, a painting she did with the Perrin girls (not shown in either episode) and flip top can tabs for Abagail (she was collecting them for chemotherapy for child with cancer). D'Amico was told that Perrin would throw them out because they were from her and in her words, "tainted."
Perrin also initially refused to accept the $50,000 of show money that each woman decides how it is spent by the other family. She said it was because the D'Amico-Flishers, the camera crew, and the money were "tainted" and "dark-sided". At the end of the show, it was revealed that "upon further review" Perrin later accepted the money. There is no report whether the painting or flip top can tabs were ever accepted.
Since the show aired and D'Amico's divorce she has been a true "Renaissance Woman" having been a segment producer and reporter for Close-Up TV News, a real estate agent at Keller Williams Realty, president of Spotlight Investments (medical practice industry) and as late as May 2008 a patient consultant for LifeStyle Lift.
Since her episode Trading Spouses is often aired she feels that sometimes her side if often left out.
Upon learning of Ashley Perrin's death in a car accident, D'Amico put a memorial post up on her blog.
