Jay Roxxx

Jaylene Terrazas (born October 4, 2002), known by her stage name Jay Roxxx is an American singer from El Centro, California. She is widely recognized for her album, Princesa, she is also recognized for her unique BLEND of Pop and Latin Pop, which incorporates contemporary pop elements with classic Latin rhythms and Chicano cultural aesthetics.

Early life

Born and raised in the small border town of El Centro, California, Jay Roxxx grew up fully immersed in Chicano culture. Even though she grew up in a heavily Mexican-American community, her parents didn't play traditional mariachi or cumbia music at home. Instead, her dad bought her an iPod loaded with his own music tastes. She grew up listening to gangster rap, Eminem, Chicano rap, reggae, oldies, and bands like No Doubt and Amy Winehouse. She became obsessed with singing at age 7 after hearing the national anthem for the first time.

Her influences span a wide and eclectic mix of hip-hop, dark pop, R&B, and traditional Latin genres. Her distinct style bridges contemporary urban sounds with her deep roots in Chicano culture. She was influenced by many artists like Eminem, Immortal Technique, XXXTentacion, and artists who she collaborated with, MC Magic and Lil Rob.
