J B Pickthall

J B Pickthall Coach Hire is a small family business, established over 15 years ago, who operate in Rowrah, West Cumbria.

They also offer a maintenance and recovery service including HGV roadside breakdown and accident recovery service 24 hours a day. Specialised towing vehicles makes it easy to tow any HGV. If required, replacement coach hire can be arranged to provide passengers with minimum disruption in reaching their destination. They currently provide maintenance services for local companies such as Robert Benson of Seaton, or recovery services for local branches of national companies such as Stagecoach Cumbria.

Vehicles

The company owns a range of vehicles from Volvo Sedissa school coach, to the more luxurious Neoplan Transliner. Also the older more respected service bus such as the Leyland National which has seen much work in this area.

This National was built in 1978 at Lillyhall with a dual-door 21 seat body and retained by the company for their own use. It is now a 52 seater and 15 standees. It only has the front door now, but still has the buttons for the back.

A little bit of History

J B Pickthall coaches started over 10 years ago with just one coach that was hired out to Daglish Coaches. Since then the company has grown increasing its fleet to up to 12 coaches and minicoaches, now operating totally independently of Daglish and taking over most of their work. The company also has recently taken over the land and buildings at Rowrah in Cumbria. The companies premisis is also home to E.R Travel, and other companies also store coaches on the land on a regular basis.
