IDP Education Pty Ltd

IDP Education Pty Ltd is an organization based in Melbourne and is owned by 38 non profit Australian universities and SEEK Ltd . It was founded in 1969 as the the Australian-Asian Universities' Cooperation Scheme (AAUCS), with the objective of developing education and research in Asia Pacific.

IDP has been gradually transformed into an organisation with three major business arms – recruitment of international students, English language testing, and management of international aid projects- over the last forty years.

Initiatives

  • Provision of international student services: Inform and advise international students on Australian education and assist in enrolment
  • English language testing: Through its subsidiary IDP: IELTS Australia, IDP Education Pty Ltd is a partner in IELTS (International English Language Testing System). Its fellow IELTS partners are the British Council and University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations.
  • International Aid projects: Undertake development projects on behalf of host governments in developing countries and funding agencies such as the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank and the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID).
  • Research: Analysis of key issues and developments in international education and monitors the importance of export education within the total of Australian exports.
  • Conference: Host of The Australian International Education Conference (AIEC).
