Pay What You Want Campaign

The S$145 million dollar project to build ibis Singapore on Bencoolen was completed ahead of time. In the Asia Pacific region, Accor has 62 ibis hotels in operation, with further 100 under development.

As a part of its opening campaign, the hotel launched "Pay What You Want" campaign. Guests were able to log onto website to put in the price they want to pay for a limited time each day. "This campaign was, to certain extent, in response to the global financial crisis, but it is also the best way to measure what the market is willing to pay. The hotel expected people to start bidding at a dollar or so, but the going bids of S$70 and $80 were noted", said Director of Marketing Hiro Inoue. This is similar to Steve Hofstetter's campaign launched in December 2007, however there has not been any record of this nature of campaign recorded in the hotel industry.
