I-Balita
I-Balita is the flagship news broadcast of Net 25 (DWMJ-TV) in the Philippines, replacing 1062 Balita Update. This show was premiered last December 25, 2007. It is currently anchored by Valerie Canlas, Joy Maico, and Eunice Mariño. It airs live via satellite through 30-minute newscast, aired at 10:00 AM Philippine time and 12:00 NN Philippine time and a 60-minute newscast, aired at 5:30 PM Philippine time. On August 11, 2008, its English version was premiered as I-News replacing Net 25 World Report and the first in Philippine News program showned in HDTV format.
I-Balita is different from any other newscast. The anchors are all female instead of the inter gender format. On the morning and noontime editions, it is anchored by a solo newscaster while on primetime edition it is anchored by a duo, sometimes it is solo. The anchors are always standing on a set with two television sets, without a desk and without a script, while anchors still struggle to look natural while reading the teleprompter. They are not usually wearing corporate attire but instead, they are in a civilian attire. During the opening portion of the newscast, the anchors are introducing themselves before they deliver the news stories. Prior to the end of newscast, the anchors deliver their parting words, without any identification.
It has different features everyday of the week. On Mondays, it is the nature and the environment, personality on Tuesdays, every Wednesday, the topic is on children and parenting, all about technology on Thursday and every Friday, all about food and health.
Controversy
Some staff of the newscast claims arrogantly that the newscast of the other Television Networks have copied their format, as well as their set. A dry claim which is quite laughable since the newscast itself is rather unknown and often overlooked in the broadcasting industry. Such claim is bigger than the newscast itself since major TV newscast's staff aren't even aware of I-Balita's existence.
I-News
I-News is the flagship late night news program of Net 25 anchored by Valerie Canlas, or even sometimes Karen Santos or Eunice Mariño. It is the English version of I-Balita replacing Net 25 World Report.
The Difference of I-Balita from I-News
I-Balita and I-News are the same in format but different in the presentation of news. I-Balita features local, business, weather and international news while I-News features a daily round-up of the latest international, business, technology, sports, entertainment, environment, science, health and feature stories.
