GRNC

Grass Roots North Carolina (GNRC) is a 501(c)(4) non-profit, all volunteer organization which advocates for the protection of the Second Amendment of the United States Bill of Rights. Grass Roots North Carolina also advocates the education of the public AbOUT trends which are believed to abridge those freedoms, in addition to participation in grassroots activism to preserve the rights themselves.

Grass Roots North Carolina is a volunteer only organization which is strictly opposed to the employment of lobbyists, based upon the opinion that the lobbyists' "interests are invariably conflicted by having to curry favor with politicians in order to earn a living."

Purpose

Grass Roots North Carolina seeks, through grassroots methods, to pass pro-gun laws, and to oppose gun control and similar laws. Unlike notable organizations such as the National Rifle Association, Grass Roots North Carolina takes a position of no compromise in its opposition to repealing gun control laws.

History

Grass Roots North Carolina was formed in 1994, in order to conduct a Second Amendment rally. They have since continued to conduct similar projects.

Political Activity

Grass Roots North Carolina has been involved in the legislative process of several bills, including the passing of North Carolina's current concealed handgun laws. More notably, Grass Roots North Carolina and its president Paul Valone were instrumental in the passing of North Carolina House Bill 650; an omnibus bill which also included the notable Castle Doctrine, which supporters say helps protect citizens from being prosecuted for defending themselves. In addition to their pro-second amendment advocacy, Grass Roots North Carolina has also been ACTIVE in opposing laws that restrict the acquisition of firearms by lawful owners, or that shift the burden of guilt to owners of stolen handguns with which crimes have been committed.
