Fahmy Ibrahim Mikhail
Professor Fahmy Ibrahim Mikhail () was one of Egypt's eminent mathematicians during the period between the 1950s and the 1980s. He was a professor of mathematics in the faculty of science in the Ain Shams University .
He graduated from Faculty of Science at Cairo University; where he was taught by Professor Moustafa Mosharafa who was the leading Egyptian mathematician at the time.
Research
Professor Mikhail gained his MSc from the University of Wales in 1949 and a PhD from University of London in 1952; afterwards he returned to Egypt where he was a professor of Mathematics at and at one stage the subdean of the Faculty of Science at Ain Shams University
His work was mainly in the field of Albert Einstein work on the theory of relativity and with his student and Later colleague Dr Mamdooh Wanas from Astronomy Department, Faculty of Science, Cairo University, on Generalized Field Theory
Professor Mikhail supervised many students during their research and his work was published in many international scientific journals
Personal life
Professor Mikhail was married and had one son Ibrahim and one daughter Susan.
He passed away in December 1998.
