Essential Beauty started as a single room on Grenfell Street in Adelaide in 1990 aligned with a ladies only gymnasium. The company currently owns 57 beauty salons around major shopping centres in Australia.
Franchising of the brand commenced in 2000. As of 2011, the company runs franchises in South Australia, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia and New South Wales. Additionally, Tony Maiello has mentioned in InterViews that company is planning for major expansion in Western Australia and Queensland.
Essential Beauty is a member of the Franchise Council of Australia, and has been ranked as one of the top 50 fastest growing franchises within Australia in 2006 based on an independent review by BRW.
