Eric A. Zimmerman
Eric A. Zimmerman is a director, editor, cinematographer, writer, and producer of reality series, documentaries, films, and music videos.
After graduating with a BFA from the Art Institute of Chicago, he created breakthrough music videos for bands such as Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, and Soundgarden, and Living Colour. He directed "Head Like A Hole" for NIN which is listed as one of the MTV Top 10 Buzz Clips of all time. He received a MTV-Billboard Awards nomination as "Best New Director" for NIN's "Down In It". He also was awarded the Silver Hugo Award at the Chicago International Film Festival for Soundgarden’s "Jesus Christ Pose". Zimmerman received three nominations for the MTV-Billboard awards and has directed six MTV Buzz Clips.
Recently music video and DVD releases include Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society Blood Is Thicker Than Water, and an epic 2-Disc DVD, The European Invasion, Doom Troopin' Live. The DVD debuted at #4 in UK. It features concerts in UK and Paris, as well as an hour long tour documentary and behind-the-scenes footage.
In addition to his directorial work, he has done many editing and post production projects. He worked with Eminem [...] the breakout "My Name Is" music video which won "Best New Artist Video" on the MTV Awards. Eric also has edited several feature music documentaries; the critically-acclaimed "Better Living Through Circuitry (Cleopatra Films) explored the techno-rave music culture, and "Rhythm and Smoke" (Tuareg Films) covered the origins of Cuban cigars, music, and lifestyle. He also worked as an editor and post production consultant on 'Nature Boy' a 30-minute HDTV film based on the Nat King Cole story exec-produced by Wesley Snipes. He also edited the television documentary "Targeted: The Engineer" for The History Channel, nominated for the IDA Awards. He also edited on Lil' Kim Countdown to Lockdown, DMX, Soul of a Man, and Keyshia Cole The Way It Is, three of the most highly-rated shows ever for BET. Recently he was Supervising Editor, and also wrote and directed scenes for the hit series Snoop Dogg's Father Hood on the E! Channel.
He recently travelled to Bali, Indonesia, to direct Explore The Unknown, a new documentary/docudrama/reality project in development with explorer Douchan Gersi, author of the books Faces In The Smoke, and Explorer.
Zimmerman is currently finishing up post production on CALLER ID, a psychological science fiction movie based on real phone machine messages.
