EntConnect
Entrepreneurial Connections, EntConnect, is an annual quasi-unconference held each spring in the Denver, Colorado area. As discussed in the Wikipedia entry on Midnight Engineering magazine, this conference grew out of EntCon, the Entrepreneur's Conference started by William E. Gates, and continues officially unrelated under the leadership of John Gaudio.
The conference brings together a group of talented, independent entrepreneurs who exchange IDeaS and share experiences. The closest concept to the EntConnect conference is probably BarCamp. The Primary differences between EntConnect and BarCamp are that:
- EntConnect provides more structure for the sharing of experiences,
- The attendee roster includes many of the same names each year allowing for deeper personal relationships between those that attend, and
- Attendees are not purely technical -- they include a mixture of entrepreneurs who are tilted towards the technical end but also include a good mix of non-technical types.
Typically the conference is held the last weekend of March. The schedule includes a ski day on Thursday in Summit County, Colorado, informal tours or meetings on Friday, an Italian Feast at Valente's Friday night (often considered the official beginning of the conference), a full day and evening of sessions (and many unsessions) on Saturday, followed by more of the same Sunday morning and early afternoon.
