Desmond Tiny
Desmond Tiny is a character of the The Saga of Darren Shan (also known as the Cirque du Freak series) book series. Mr Tiny makes his appearance in the second, Fourth, seventh, tenth, eleventh, and final book of the Darren Shan series, and we find that he is the master of strange creatures called the Little People who work at the Cirque du Freak. Later on, we find out that the Little People are creations of Mr. Tiny using the souls and body parts of the dead. We also find that Mr. Tiny controls and looks after destiny as well as predicts it. Yet, it is said by his daughter Evanna that he can not influence the future without releasing trapped horrors of the world. This could possibly refer to the Demonata. However, in the Darren Shan Message Boards, a question regarding the two books relationship was declined by Darren Shan answering, "No, they are two different series."
Mr. Tiny is described as very short and he wears wellies. He also carries a heart shaped watch. During the series we find that Mr. Tiny enjoys watching and causing suffering to all. He is also responsible for the prophecies made for the Vampires and the Vampaneze (and perhaps the humans but this is never mentioned). The reader is always unsure what connection Mr Tiny and the vampires have. Some say that he created them, but we find that he has given them presents that are catalyst for the Series later on.
His first name is Desmond and last Tiny, when his first name is abbreviated to Des and added to his last, it becomes Des Tiny, or Destiny.
He is the father of Hibernius Tall, Evanna, Darren Shan, and Steve Leonard, as well as the grandfather of Darius and Evanna's unnamed children. He also gave the vampires the stone of blood and the vampaneze the coffin of fire and tried to make the Lord of Shadows come alive. Mr. Tiny interferes in the world's goings-on to adhere to his own purposes, and many people have come to power because of his work. His goal is for complete destruction, although he calls it 'art and beauty'. He has an interest in the arts, and takes it from wherever he can, even claiming to own the original Mona Lisa (it is said the one in Paris was a fake). He has a distase for literature, stating it is not a part of his world and it never will be.
