Evra Von

Evra Von is a fictional character in The Saga of Darren Shan. He lives with the Cirque du Freak and performs as the Snake-boy. He ages normally, unlike Darren who ages at 1/5 the rate as him so even though they are near the same age, Evra seems much older then Darren. Evra was abandoned as a baby because of his 'strange' features. An evil circus took him in for AbOUT seven years, until Hibernius Tall took him in to the Cirque du Freak.

Traits and Abilities

Evra Von's favorite talent is his ability to lick his nose. He has a pet snake. He has long yellowy green hair, the only hair on his body.

In the Tunnels of Blood, Evra is kidnapped by a murderous vampaneze after Mr. Crepsley's failed attempt to capture it due to some meddling on Darren's part. Murlough, the vampaneze, takes him down under the city and asks to make a deal with Darren. To trade Crepsley for Evra, Darren declines and goes beneath in to the Blood Tunnels with Mr. Crepsley to try to save Evra. Murlough attempts to cut off his scales and even 15 years later, he still hates people touching the shoulder that was cut.

In 'Hunters of the Dusk' Darren finds Evra has a family consisting of his wife Merla and three children; Shancus, Urcha and Lilia. Shancus and Lilia are snake children whilst Urcha is a normal human (which the younger Von clearly despised). Shancus is named after Darren.

Evra has rough skin like a snake, therefore he goes shirtless while in the Cirque du Freak and always goes barefoot, not needing to wear shoes because the soles of his feet are extra tough.

Trivia

A little gag in the book, The Vampire's Assistant, is that when anyone asks for his name and he answers "Evra Von" They say "Evra Von what"
