Coalition For Change
The Coalition For Change, Inc. (C4C) is a proactive civil rights organization and support network that seeks to advance racial equality in the Federal workplace. Through publicizing workplace human resources issues, disseminating information on employee rights and developing government oversight reforms, C4C operates to better safeguard the safety, quality and efficiency of public goods and services. Founded in 2008, C4C maintains incorporation in Washington, D.C. The non-profit, non-partisan organization is a member of the National Freedom of Information Coalition and the No FEAR Coalition.
Mission Statement
C4C serves as a non-profit public interest group with a dual mission. First, the organization is to provide informational and spiritual support to public servants seeking to eradicate racial inequity within the Federal workplace. Second, the organization operates to improve public goods and services by exposing civil rights abuses that impact the Federal governments programs and policies.
Membership
C4C members consist of present, former, injured and concerned Federal employees who have worked within various U.S. Cabinet agencies, Social Security Administration and the Government Accountability Office.
History
Tanya Ward Jordan, President of the Coalition for Change, Inc. (C4C), is a founding member of the No FEAR Coalition. In 2002, she received an award from Dr.Marsha Coleman-Adebayo, Chair of the No FEAR Coalition, and Representative James Sensenbrenner for her notable contributions to the “Notification of Federal Employees Anti-discrimination and Retaliation Act,” the first Civil Rights Law of the 21st Century. The Act was signed into law by President George W. Bush in 2002. In 2008, Tanya Ward Jordan (President) and G. Nicole Harrison (Vice-President) joined forces to launch The Coalition for Change, Inc.(C4C). Under their leadership, members serve to foster the fair treatment of all employees with particular emphasis on improving the treatment of African-Americans in the Federal workplace. Initiatives undertaken by the organization are implemented with the understanding that the Federal governments human resources management is inextricably linked to the quality of public goods and services.
According to Equal Employment Opportunity Commission systemic discrimination persists in the public sector and race and color discrimination is still very much alive in the American Workplace. . Discrimination complaints increased in 2008. In September 2009, EEOC reported to the The Coalition For Change, Inc. (C4C) that from Calendar Year 2000 through Calendar Year 2009, 150 class-wide discrimination complaints were filed by African-American and or Black Federal employees.
