Charles James Denton
Charles James Denton (born 20 February 1965) is an English entrepreneur, and philanthropist. He was educated at Millfield School in Somerset. In 1984 he began his career in financial services with the Brian Neal Group before moving to City of London with Charles Sturge & Co.
In 1989 he joined Molton Brown where he worked for fifteen years in various roles including Sales & Marketing Director, Chief Executive and Deputy Chairman. In 2005 the company was sold to Kao Corporation of Japan.
Charles has since devoted much of his time volunteering in various charitable organizations most notably Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital (GOSH) where he spent three years as Executive Director before becoming Chairman of Fundraising in 2008.
He was a Trustee of Jeans for Genes from 2006 to 2009 and Deputy Chairman of ecommerce group ArgentVive from 2007 to 2008. In December 2008 he was appointed Trustee and Chairman of the African Orphan’s charity Sentebale . Sentebale, which means 'Forget Me Not' in Sesotho, is a charity set up in April 2006 by Prince Seeiso of Lesotho and the Prince Henry of Wales, the younger son of Diana, Princess of Wales and Charles, Prince of Wales, to help vulnerable children and young people in Lesotho, particularly those who have been orphaned as a result of HIV and AIDS.
In 2009 Charles became Chairman of the award-winning design and communications agency Fold7 .
