Buildingblocks is a Delhi based organization in the field of primary education and elementary education. The organization was conceptualized in early 2006 and began its operation in December 2006.
It is working to become the correction in the system of Education in India, which has this tremendous emphasis on [Rote learning]. This anomaly of the Indian education system was recently highlighted by the survey conducted by India Today.
buildingBlocks has designed its own educational methodologies like montessori, Reggio Emilia and waldorf approaches to design the curriculum for it's preschool and after schools. The uniqueness that it is offering is the spiritual element in its education based on the theories proposed by Mahatma Gandhi, J. Krishnamurthy and Sri Aurobindo. Interestingly, NCERT recently came out with articles on the theories proposed by the spiritual leaders of India and also the lack of Spiritual element in the modern education system. Essentially, the organization is trying to add more dimensions to the current education system of India. Buildingblocks is also planning to introduce its courses and methodologies to the masses of the society by partnering with mainstream schools and corporations.
Further, in order to avoid stressing these young kids with any more [Rote learning], buildingBlocks provides them a combination of mental and physical activities three days a week.
The physical activities comprises relaxing exercises like yoga and aerobics and the mental techniques comprise of courses like Vedic Mathematics.
It will be interesting to see how this new age educational correction concept works with the stressed out kids of today.
The company has recently launched a school blog, you can check out the blog to see their progress. The company has launched their first after school program by the name blockClasses.
The program is currently offered in East Delhi and soon would be expanded to other parts of Delhi.
