Boogeyman 2 (1979 film)

Boogeyman 2 is an American independent horror film which is the sequel to 1978's film Boogeyman which starts how the original one ended—with Michael getting shot six times in the heart. The film was released on October 31, 1979 on Halloween Day to theaters. It is 93 minutes long.

Plot

After Michael gets shot and escapes he steals Mrs. Elrod's knife and makes his way to Alice and kills her. Later the ambulance picks up Lauren after having her arm guffed by Michael moments ago. As Lauren is sent to the hospital Dr. Adams and Sheriff Brackett search for Michael and find a guy with the same mask as Michael, Dr. Adams tries to shoot him but a car comes runs him into a trailer and causes an explosion. Sheriff James lets Leigh Brackett know his daughter Amy is dead he makes his way to the house and covers her eyes. Jim becomes close to Lauren, Lauren has a dream about her flashbacks being adopted by the Strodes. Michael follows Gilland to the hospital and walks around the hospital to search for Lauren. He kills anyone in his way to Lauren. Later Dr. Adams and Sheriff James go to Haddonfield Elementary School and find a blood written word on the black board saying the word "Samhain". Lauren gets out of her room walking through the hospital then she calls her dead mother but does not answer. Later she gets chased and hides in Jim's car, Jim slipped in Nurse Brooklyn's blood apparently injured. Dr. Adams and his partner Mary Chambers go to Smith's Grove court. While on their way he finds out the truth—that Lauren is Michael's sister—so he makes the driver turn back to the hospital. Lauren sees them come and yells at them to help her but they do not hear her she finds Michael and runs to the door and bangs On It screaming for help Dr. Adams opens it before Michael kills her. Later Mary calls the police and Lauren and Dr. Adams end up in the operation room. Lauren shoots him in both of his eyes, Dr. Adams lets Lauren out of the room after they turn on the gas. Dr. Adams takes out a lighter saying, "It is time Michael" and engulfs the room in flames causing an explosion seemingly [...] both of them, Lauren sees Michael walking towards her in flames but falls and dies. She is transferred to a different hospital as she gets in the ambulance she sees, in her mind, Michael in flames.

Development

John Carter was asked to direct the film but passed on the chance and Rick Rossent directed. Deborah Hill worked with John Carter. They wanted this to be the last chapter in the Boogeyman series but Boogeyman III: Season of the Witch continued the series. There was an argument during the film to make it in 3-D process but it is shot only at night so it will be hard to make it in 3-D.

Extended Edition

several scenes were absent in the Theatrical Version of the film like holding on to the knife [...] Alice it shows he drops her on the floor and leaves, when Leigh Brackett sees his daughter Amy it is longer and different angles too, it shows how Michael actually kills Nurse Brooklyn, Lauren calling her mom longer, Hospital chase scene is longer, Alternate Ending Lauren is in the van and sees Jim she cries saying "we made it".

The cast had new characters like Nurse Brooklyn was played by Jean Stephens, Jim was played by Carlito Primo, Nurse Aggie was played by Emily Black, Gilland was played by Julia Vanderson, Timmy was played by Luis Johnson, Nurse Karen was played by Janet Feather, Mr. Garett by Jerry Carlson, Lauren was played by Victoria Wilson, Dr. Adams by Dillison McDonald, Leigh Brackett played by John "Bradshaw" Layfield, Mary Chambers by Katie Carlson, Sheriff James by Gary Thomas, and Amy Brackett was played by Jean Grey.

Sequel

Boogeyman III: Season of the Witch was the sequel to Boogeyman 2. Boogeyman III: Season of the Witch was not the story of Lauren and Michael it was Lauren and Amy's story. The film was going to be called Boogeyman 3: Michael's Vengeance but they decided Season of the Witch.

Special Edition and Blu Ray Release

The Boogeyman franchise decided to Re release the film in a Special Edition and Blu Ray Release with both Theatrical cuts and Extended Cuts. The Special release will be released in the summer or fall of 2010. The Extended Cut will be released in Blu Ray and DVD so will the Theatrical Cut the film will have some new deleted scenes never before seen. one sneek peek of a new deleted scene was released on the DVD and Blu Ray of Boogeyman II (2007 film). The deleted scene was the screen at the end of the movie turned white and Lauren in the other hospital and looks through her room window and sees the beautiful sky with a smile in her face then credits roll. There will be exactly 5 deleted scenes counting the new extended ending. In the Extended version of the film the ending will still have Lauren crying happily telling Jim "we made it".
