Better Stack

Better Stack is a developer of cloud-based observability software. The company is based in San Francisco, United States, with origins in Prague, Czech Republic.

History

Better Stack was founded in 2021 in Prague by Juraj Masar and Veronika Kolejak to develop developer tools intended to combine disparate monitoring, logging, and incident response products into a single platform. Prior to founding the company, Masar had co-founded the financial data platform Wallmine and the customer-feedback product Customer.guru, while Kolejak had previously worked as a software engineer at Google. The company initially launched two separate products: Better Uptime, an uptime monitoring and incident management tool, and Logtail, a log management product. In 2022, the two products were merged, with Better Uptime and Logtail being renamed as "Uptime" and "Logs" modules in the Better Stack platform.

In July 2022, Better Stack raised a Series A round of $18.6 million led by Creandum, with participation from Susa Ventures, K5 Global, Credo Ventures, Kaya, Lachy Groom, and angel investors including Flexport founder Ryan Petersen, Neo4j founder Emil Eifrem, and Codecademy co-founder Zach Sims. In January 2024, the company raised an additional $10 million in funding led by existing investor KAYA, with Box CEO Aaron Levie and former UiPath executive Kulpreet Singh participating as angel investors.
