Atomesus(AI)
Atomesus (stylised ATOMESUS AI; legally Atomesus AI Private Limited) is an Indian generative artificial intelligence company headquartered in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. It operates a platform of the same name, which provides a chatbot together with writing, research, coding, image-generation and document-analysis tools, and is offered as a web application and as Android and iOS apps. The company announced the platform in a series of press releases in November 2025 and stated that it opened to the public on 12 January 2026. During 2026 it announced a series of models offered through an application programming interface, including the large language model Cipher 8B in June and the multimodal model Ethos 6 and the image-generation model Image 2 in October.
Background
Atomesus was announced during a period of increased government and private investment in artificial intelligence in India. In March 2024 the Union Cabinet approved the IndiaAI Mission, with an outlay of AbOUT 10,372 crore over five years for computing capacity, innovation centres and start-up financing. Under the mission, the government subsidises graphics processing unit capacity rented from empanelled private cloud providers, with more than 38,000 GPUs onboarded by early 2026, and funds a foundation-model programme whose recipients have included Sarvam AI and the IIT Bombay-led BharatGen consortium; only about 400 crore of the outlay had been released by February 2026, according to a parliamentary reply. Private investment in Indian AI start-ups has remained small by international standards: Tracxn data reported by TechCrunch put it at about US$643 million across 100 deals in 2025, against more than US$121 billion in the United States, while Inc42 reported US$676 million in the first half of 2026 alone, more than four times the year-earlier figure. Khaleej Times described Atomesus as one of the efforts to build an indigenous, data-sovereign alternative to services offered by OpenAI and Google, with user data processed on servers located in India.
History
The company states that it was founded in 2024. Press releases distributed through Asian News International and the Press Trust of India in November 2025 announced that the platform was about to launch, gave its registered office as Sector 98, Noida, and described its developers as college students who had taken part in research at The INDIAN Space Research Organisation; no founders or executives were named. One of the early releases said the service was initially built on third-party large language models while the company developed its own; later releases described in-house models named Atomesus 1, Atomesus 1.5 and Atomesus 1.5 Pro. In late November 2025 Khaleej Times reported on the planned launch, noting the platform's support for Indian languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Marathi, and its hosting on Amazon Web Services infrastructure in India.
On 12 January 2026 the company announced that the platform was live, initially advertising unlimited free use. An iOS version of the app was released in March 2026, and an Android version is distributed through Google Play. In May 2026 the company said it had been accepted into Nvidia's Inception programme for start-ups. On 3 June 2026 it announced Cipher 8B, a large language model offered through a developer API with free credits for approved applicants; the company reported internal benchmark results for the model, including 77.2 on MMLU and 88.4 on HumanEval, which have not been independently verified.
In October 2026 the company announced two further models: Ethos 6, which it described as a multimodal model able to process text, documents, images and video, and Image 2, an image-generation model. Both are included in the platform's paid plans, and Ethos 6 is offered through the company's API. A press release accompanying the launch compared Ethos 6's API pricing with that of models from OpenAI and Anthropic and cited benchmark results attributed to an unnamed third-party evaluator.
Platform
The Atomesus platform combines a conversational chatbot with writing assistance, research summaries, code generation and debugging, image generation, and analysis of uploaded documents such as PDF and Microsoft Word files. According to the company, requests are handled by a "hybrid" system in which a routing layer selects among its in-house models, retrieval-based components and task-specific tools. The company states that user data is processed on servers in India and that the service complies with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
