Asia-Pacific Song Contest 2009
The Our Sound, the Asia-Pacific Song Contest 2009 will be the first annual Asia-Pacific Song Contest. Fifteen countries and areas are expected to take part, the host is rumoured to be Singapore as this is where the contest headquarters are based, which was a similar situation as the Eurovision Song Contest, when the first host Switzerland was also the location for the EBU headquarters.
The Asia-Pacific Song Contest National Selections will start in July 2009, and the winner of each national preliminary will proceed to the programme’s Grand Final, held in November. The stars may sing their songs in any language, and there are no restrictions of the genre of the songs participating.
The Grand Final will stretch over an entire weekend, starting with the Performance Show on Friday night and culminating in the Winners Show on Sunday night. The show will be presented in both English and Mandarin. Both shows will be telecasted across Asia in Prime Time by leading free-to-air broadcasters, and will reach a target audience of 530 million households. After the Grand Final Performance Show everyone in the Asia - Pacific Region will have the chance to send his votes for his favourite songs via SMS and online.
Schedule
The participating stars will be chosen in National Selections in each country by public vote. National Selections will start in July 2009.The winner of each national preliminaries, either an individual artist or a group, will proceed to the programme’s Grand Final. The Grand Final, scheduled for November 2009, will stretch over an entire weekend, starting with the Performance Show on Friday night and culminating in the Winners Show on Sunday night. Both shows will be telecasted in all participating countries by leading free-to-air broadcasters and worldwide.
