Aqila Rab Nawaz

Aqila Zia Chughtai (1st june 1926 to 14th December 2008) was Deputy Directoress of Education from Multan, Punjab, Pakistan. She had been a Senior geography and history Teacher in one of the first schools in the city. Throughout her life, she was posted to different stations like Vehari, Multan and Ahmed Pur Sharkia.

Personal Life

Aqila Zia Chughtai was born to Noor Muhammad and Berkat Elahi on December 14th 1925 when struggle for a separate country by the Muslims of the Sub-Continent was AbOUT to catch a proper shape. Noor Muhammad was a soldier in the army. Going against the tradition of muslim families of that time, she joined school and matriculated with distinction. To carry on with her intermediate, she had to appear in the examinations privately due to some social and traditional restrictions. after completion of her bachelors, she joined the profession of teaching. She taught and later became head mistress of Government Number 1 girls High School Multan. She was always keen to train the youth in harmony with the upcoming modern world. Unlike other muslim Women of that time, she openly supported learning of english and as a teacher she always focused towards the development of the positive perception of the youth. She was married to Rab Nawaz Malik within her family and had 3 children namely Ayaz Akbar Malik, presently serving Habib Bank Limited as AGM operations in Multan, Seema Rizwan and Lubna Khayyam. Even after getting formal retirement from the Government of Pakistan, she remained socially ACTIVE. Her strong mathematics and astrology kept people socially bound to her till her last days. Considering the fact that she taught and remained head mistress of the first school for girls in the region, she remained famous among the people. It was her ethical values which she gave to her children and which played a vital role in upbringing of her grandchildren namely Arham Ayaz, Moazzam Ayaz, Aaraiz Hashmi, Armish Rizwan, Tahniat Khayyam, Maham Ayaz ,

Death

At the age of eighty three, on December 14th 2008, she passed away. According to The Institute of Cardiology Multan, she suffered a chronic heart attack. she remained in intensive care for approximately 12 hours before her death.
