Alexis Antonio Somoza Erice

Alexis Antonio Somoza Erice was born in Havana, Cuba, in October 18, 1966. Since 1991 he resides in Mexico City, Mexico. He develops the Sculpture, Painting, and Installation.

Between 1981-1985 he studied in the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas, San Alejandro, in Havana, Cuba. And since 1985 to 1990 he studied in the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA), in Havana, Cuba.

Among his must relevant personal exhibitions we can mention in 1986 Escultura fria y caliente, in the Galería L, Havana, Cuba. And in 1988 Es culturas, in the Centro Wifredo Lam, Havana, Cuba.

Collective Exhibitions

He was part in many collective exhibitions like Escultura Contemporánea Cubana (collateral with the Second Havana Biennial), in the Galería de Arte 10 de Octubre, in Havana, Cuba, in 1986. In 1987 he participated in the VIIe. Exposition Internationale de la Petite Sculpture de Budapest, 1987, in Budapest, Hungary. In 1990 he was included in El Objeto Esculturado, in the Centro de Desarrollo de las Artes Visuales, in Havana, Cuba. And in 1993 he was one of the selected artists to conform Nacido en Cuba, in the Centro Cultural Mexiquense, Ex Hacienda La Pila, Toluca, in the Estado de México, Mexico.
