Al Razak v. Bush

Al Razak v. Bush (Civil Action No. 05-CV-1601) is a writ of habeas corpus filed on behalf of several Guantanamo captives.

The Military Commissions Act of 2006 mandated that Guantanamo captives were no longer entitled to access the US civil justice system, so all outstanding habeas corpus petitions were closed.

On June 12 2008 the United States Supreme Court ruled, in Boumediene v. Bush, that the Military Commissions Act could not remove the right for Guantanamo captives to access the US Federal Court system. And all previous Guantanamo captives' habeas petitions were eligible to be re-instated.

On July 18 2008 Rebecca P. [...] filed a status report on a number of captives, including four whose cases were amalgamated in 05-CV-2367, who were still held in extrajudicial detention in Guantanamo.:

His attorneys were able to determine that Hamid Allah Mowlowi Saedara Saed Abd Al Razak was also known as Hamidullah, Qari Hamdullah, and that he had Civil Action No. 05-cv-1601 filed on his behalf. The two petitions were merged on April 12 2007. |}
