Akis Samiotis
Akis Samiotis (; born 23 October 1992) is a Greek footballer, nicknamed "maestro", who plays as a Midfielder and a Centre Back.
Style of Play
Samiotis can play in various positions, characteristic shared with Kostas Katsouranis as a result of the combination of his technique, speed and strength. He has been described as "a reasonable goal threat despite being notionally a Midfielder". A fine passer of the ball, Samiotis is very strong in the air and has excellent positioning defensively. However, it is his natural attacking instinct that makes him such a valuable footballer, able to ghost into the box with regularity despite usually playing in a deep-lying midfield role. His ability to offer an attacking threat without compromising his defensive duties means he is The Embodiment of a complete defensive midfielder.
Career
Born in Athens, Samiotis began playing football for local side Panionios G.S.S.. He started his senior career with Ethnikos Piraeus F.C. in the Delta Ethniki.
