Agustín Rolando Rojas Leyva

Agustín Rolando Rojas Leyva, was born in Havana, Cuba, in may 5, 1959. He develop the engraving, drawing and painting. He studied in the Escuela de Artes Plásticas “San Alejandro”, Havana, Cuba and continue studying in the Instituto Superior de Arte (I.S.A), Havana, Cuba.

Individual Exhibitions

The first personal exhibition was "Paisajes"and took place in the Centro Provincial de Artes Plásticas y Diseño, Havana, Cuba, 1986. In this year was also presented "Además de Watercolor". Galería de Arte San Miguel del Padrón, Havana, Cuba.

Collective Exhibitions

He was part on many collective exhibition, as example we can mention in 1983 "Encuentro de Grabado’83". Sala Tespis. Hotel Habana Libre, Havana, Cuba. In 1990 he participated in the First Bienal Internacional de Grabado, Premio Julio Prieto Nespereira. Caixa Ourense,Ourense, Spain. In 1991 he was included in the 11th Mini Print Internacional de Cadaqués Taller Galería Fort, Cadaqués,Barcelona, Spain,and in this year also was part of the "Grabado Contemporáneo Cubano" Cuarta Bienal de La Habana. Museo de Arte Colonial, Havana, Cuba. In 1993 he presented some of his works 7th & 8th Annual International Exhibition of Miniature Art. Bello Gallery, Ontario, Canada.

Awards

He obtained various awards during his life like the Mention in the Mentionin the Encuentro de Grabado’83. Sala Tespis, Hotel Habana Libre, Havana, Cuba,1983.He gained also the Prize CIPE’90. Correo para el Intercambio de Pequeñas Estampas CIPE’90, Centro Provincial de Artes Plásticas y Diseño, Havana, Cuba. Four years laters he was awarded of the Especial mention at the XII Concurso Internacional de Grabado Máximo Ramos, Orense, España. And in 1995 he obtained the Premi Ex Aequo per a Artistes i Promoció dels Tallers Miró, Opció A. Fundació Pública Municipal Pilar i Joan Miró. Palma de Mallorca, Spain.
